Installing DragStrip

DragStrip is a Macintosh application. No special control panels or extensions are needed to use DragStrip on your Macintosh. To install DragStrip 3.6:

Double-click on the DragStrip Installer icon.
Choose from the installation configuration options.
Choose the type of Macintosh for which you would like DragStrip to be installed. 680x0 refers to Macintosh models from Macintosh II and Classic II through Quadra. PowerPC refers to all Macintosh clones or Power Macintosh models. Universal DragStrip works on both 680x0 models and Power Macintosh models.
The DragStrip Installer will place the folder and files shown below onto your hard disk.
Open the DragStrip folder and double-click on the DragStrip icon to launch the application.
DragStrip can be used for 30 days without registering, after that you will be given a gentle reminder to register when you start the application. You receive the serial number and authorization number when you register DragStrip which can be entered in the personalization dialog, accessable from the preferences dialog.

Updating from Previous Versions of DragStrip

If you have been using a previous version of DragStrip, it's a good idea to back up your previous strips before installing. Upon installing DragStrip 3.6 (see next section) and converting your 1.0 or 2.0 strips to 3.6, your strips will look and work the same except they will have many new and exciting options.

Converting your 1.0 and 2.0 strips to 3.x strips

The way in which DragStrip 3.x stores files has changed since version 1.0 and 2.0. DragStrip no longer stores icons, aliases, etc. in the same way. Therefore existing strips from earlier versions need to be converted to 3.6 strips. DragStrip 3.5 will automatically convert your existing strips, as well as your preferences file and your document list. DragStrip renames the old strips with an "old" suffix. There is no way to convert 3.5 strips back to earlier strips.
