DragStrip®The Ultimate Desktop OrganizerHere is what users and the press have had to say about DragStrip.
ReviewsC|Net Download.comPower Downloader "Power Pick" Jan 17, 1998...Let's face it: DragStrip is to Power what a utility belt is to Batman. MacWorldDragStrip has gotten rave reviews from all of the major Macintosh publications. MacWorld magazine named it an Editors Choice, awarding DragStrip 2.0.1 4 stars! It was reviewed in the September 1997 issue as listed as a top pick for enhancing MacOS 8. ...For those who like to see their choices all laid out in front of them, DragStrip is it. Its button strips are compact and it's a separate application (no extensions headaches here). ...It's easy to assign buttons a function via drag and drop, and many buttons can display popup lists of folders and documents. Since I'm trying to go mouseless, I especially like being able to select strips, navigate from button to button and "click on" buttons without using the keyboard. In January 1996, Macworld' David Pogue reviewed 10 different launching utilities for the Mac. His decision? Specialized tiles do things like change speaker volume or monitor settings, pop up a calendar, or, interestingly, route a drag-and-dropped file to a predefined destination folder ....For great screen-clutter-to-features ratio, I'll take DragStrip. That's right: there's a new launcher at my pad.
TidBITSTidBITS, the pioneering online Mac magazine named DragStrip the "Neatest Utility" of MacWorld San Francisco in 1995. [DragStrip] enables you to create sets of launcher tiles ... but with numerous enhancements, such as the ability to attach recently used documents to an application launcher tile, and hotspots that bring your strips to the foreground. DragStrip takes the genre to its peak for the moment, and supports its own DragStrip Additions (for changing monitor depth, sound volume, and so on) and Control Strip modules, which were previously only accessible on a desktop Mac with Desktop Strip.DragStrip is fully reviewed in issue #275 of TidBITS.
MacWEEK - ZDNetMacWeek gave DragStrip a 4 diamond rating.
Mac Today magazine's Dick Theriault reviewed DragStrip in November 1995 and called it "useful, efficient and entertaining": I find that I use the launching and switching functions of DragStrip all the time, but have not yet begun to tap the many other resources it offers. This tool allows organization beyond your average wildest dream, but doesn't require you to use any feature you don't want. MacSciTech JournalThe SciTech Journal, the official journal of the MacSciTech Users Association called DragStrip "...a simple elegant solution..." in its article titled "It's a Gift to be Simple" The power and time savings of the DragStrip approach really kicks in when you include folders in the strip. Click and hold on a folder and hierarchical menus will show the folder's contents and allow you to directly launch applications. This approach not only saves time but also reduces mouse motion and associated fatigue. Quotes From UsersFinally, here are some quotes from some of DragStrip's users:
I can't thank Poppybank Software enough for bringing the great
features of DragStrip to my PC. Accessing my favorite files and
applications has never been easier.
DragStrip is now an indispensable part of my Windows 95 system. I use it
more than any other utility. In fact, I use it so much that my Start menu
is sprouting cobwebs.
It used to be such a pain creating endless shortcuts that were
obscured whenever I opened an application. With DragStrip, I can access
anything on my PC no matter where I am in an application or on the
desktop.
DragStrip is so simple, and so incredibly useful, it can help you minutes after you install it.
DragStrip has completely cleaned up my desktop. It took the rows of icons I had and made them neater, more powerful, and more accessable. Incredible!
"DragStrip has fulfilled its promise: my desktop is cleaner and more organized, my Apple Menu is much less cluttered, and I don't have to navigate through a maze of windows and folders in the Finder. In short, my desktop is more sophisticated - I have nearly instant access to everything I want! I tossed out Square One within a week."
"Life was a drag without it."
"DragStrip is the first thing I launch when I start my machine. On my powerbook, where screen space is at a premium, it saves filling the screen with unneeded windows. It's rapidly becoming a utility I wouldn't
want to be without."
"Dragstrip is Launcher on steroids. It's made for power-users who want to get around their system in a hurry, and not have to wait for other things to be done. With DragStrip I can get the Finder doing copies, responding to scripts etc. and still be able to launch my apps and open my files."
Drag Strip is the first new utility in years that I really use on a daily basis. It makes working with my computer more efficient and pleasant, & best of all, it cleaned up my desktop! All reviews listed are copyright by their referenced publications |
